Time is literally flying! At the same time, it's crawling.
My belly is growing really fast and I'm starting to get uncomfortable.
I
had an ultrasound about a week ago (March 29th) up at the hospital at
Ft. Belvoir. Wow. It was not a very pleasant experience. J absolutely
couldn't get off work so I had to go all by myself. I got there a good
45 minutes early, hoping they would take me back at least a little
early. No such luck. They waited til 2:30 on the dot to take me back -
this was extra irritating because I know for a fact they weren't busy!
But that's ok. The whole thing was supposed to take about 45 minutes
(this was the anatomy scan where they measure each part of the baby and
make sure everything's growing right on track). So after 45 minutes, the
tech said she was done and left to go do the paperwork. About 5 minutes
later, she comes back and says she needs to take more pictures. Well,
this happens 4 TIMES. The last time, she comes back in with a doctor and
they're both staring and pointing at the ultrasound machine. I was so
stressed out, I was almost in tears. After 5 or 10 minutes (which seemed
more like an hour or 2), they finish and the doctor is about to leave
and almost as an afterthought, turns around and tell me that baby looks
great and there were no abnormalities. Uhhh....maybe you could have told
me that BEFORE I almost had a panic attack?!
Needless to say, I have learned my lessons:
1. I will never go to an ultrasound alone again
2. I will ask questions and demand answers if I'm not being kept informed
3. Pregnancy is stressful

I
had a follow-up appointment the next day at my regular doctor's office.
She confirmed that Aaron's doing great and had a strong lil heartbeat
of 150 but he's measuring a few days small (at the ultrasound, I was 20w
6d but he was measuring 20w 1d) so I have to schedule another
ultrasound in 4-6 weeks to make sure he's growing like he's supposed to
be. Naturally, this completely freaked me out at first but after talking
to a few of my mommy friends, they said it's completely normal and a 5
day difference is nothing to worry about. So, I refuse to stress over
this and instead, I'll just be delighted to see our baby again!
